Îçҹ̽»¨ among top ten percent

Îçҹ̽»¨ scores high in the renowned THE World University Ranking 2022: In an international comparison of over 1600 universities, Îçҹ̽»¨ is ranked 146th, placing it in the top ten percent of universities worldwide. In Baden-Württemberg, only the significantly larger and older universities of Heidelberg, Tübingen and Freiburg are ahead of Îçҹ̽»¨. The University of Mannheim shares the same rank.

Number one in the of British magazine Times Higher Education (THE) is the University of Oxford – followed by US universities California Institute of Technology and Harvard. The best German university is LMU Munich on rank 32.
The THE ranking assesses 13 performance indicators in the areas of research, teaching, knowledge transfer, and internationality. The overall score and rank of each university is based on surveys among researchers and data gathered in five categories (teaching, international outlook, industry income, research, and citations).

Îçҹ̽»¨ achieves a particularly excellent result in the category 'citations' on a national level: The only researchers cited more frequently in scientific journals throughout the assessment period were from the Charité in Berlin and the universities of Hohenheim, Heidelberg and Bielefeld.
'The THE ranking shows that Îçҹ̽»¨ is well-established among the best universities worldwide. Our excellent performance in the area of citations in scientific journals in particular is a testament to our research strength,' sums up university president Professor Michael Weber.
