Martin Theobald received a doctoral degree from in 2006 and spent two years as a Post-Doc at the . Subsequently, he worked as a Senior Researcher at the until he received an appointment at the University of Antwerp in 2012. In Antwerp, Prof. Theobald is a member of the research group.

For his research Prof. Dr. Theobald has always been working with huge data sets as well as corresponding database technologies. In the scope of his PhD he developed a search engine for . Afterwards he focused on the design and development of probabilistic and temporal databases in the context of several research projects. Finally, Prof. Theobald serves on the program committees and as a reviewer for numerous international journals, conferences, and workshops.
