Prof. Dr. Claudia Lenk

Claudia Lenk studied technical physics at the Technical University Ilmenau, Germany. She did a PhD in biophysics, working on numerical and chemical modelling of mechanisms underlying atrial fibrillation. Following this she worked on scanning probe lithography, micro- and systems fabrication and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), building for example a single-electron transistor operating at room temperature. Starting with her Postdoc, Claudia Lenk focused her research on understanding information processing in biological systems and transferring these principles to technological system to enable fast and efficient processing of sound. Particularly, she combined her previous experiences by building artificial hair cells and acoustic neurons using MEMS devices with electronic feedback to improve hearing for humans and machines. Since 2024, she is a full professor at Îçҹ̽»¨ heading the group Biomedical Sensor Systems and Microsystems and the Institute of Functional Nanosystems.
