Active Directory print service

Service Category: Desktop Computing

Provision of a large number of network printers on which all devices managed by kiz within the domain can print via print server.

Performance features

  • Integrated output devices: Printers in B/W and color (preferably homogeneous environment with HP printers)
    • Problems are reported and processed via the usual ticket-based workflow
    • Troubleshooting is initially carried out by the company itself, depending on the effort involved
    • Most printers have a service contract; a technician can be ordered in the event of major problems
  • There is no verification of print authorization. Any user with an Active Directory account can use the printers provided.
  • The printers are configured directly on the print servers
  • Communication between the print server and output devices takes place using the JetDirect (port 9100) and Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) protocols, in some cases using IPsec.
  • The following print servers are available within the domain verwaltung.uni-ulm.de: zuv-print01 & zuv-print02
  • The print server kiz-print01 is available within the ads.uni-ulm.de domain

User groups

All users who use an end device (PCs, notebooks) managed by the Desktop and Client Services team.

24 x 7 x 365

Application modalities

Any user who has a kiz-managed device in one of the two domains (PC/notebook) can use the printers. No additional rights need to be requested for the kiz account.

Fee / charge

No fees or charges are invoiced for the service.
